Nantucket, MA

The approach to the 10,000 square foot home features lush, landscaped grounds emphasizing the natural beauty that defines the island. Accented by native perennials, grasses, and shrubs, the grounds are an ideal habitat to host local fauna, adding to its quintessential New England Charm. Set in the moors, the family compound affords expansive northwest vistas over land to Nantucket Harbor. This generational family home reflects the traditional architecture of the region with gray shingles, flat-board trim, square posts, double-hung windows, coupled with a sophisticated and contemporary interior. The garage is programmed with a guest suite above and is sited to provide privacy from the motor court while still taking advantage of the harbor view. The main home accommodates five bedrooms between two levels, with the kitchen serving as the focal gathering place of the home. A modern art collection enlivens the major interior spaces which are connected to each other, extending seamlessly to the outdoor terrace and pool house. A sculptural light illuminates a custom dining room designed by the architect – along with several other pieces of personalized furniture – for a modern interpretation of a beach home.
