Converse Point

Marion, MA

Facing northeast across Marion Harbor, this house is sited to take advantage of sweeping views of Buzzard's Bay. The house is approached via an internal, detached courtyard flanked by a garage and an elevated lawn terrace. The symmetrical entry elevation gives way to a more rambling water elevation that encloses a pool terrace and a large informal lawn. The plan is L-shaped to take advatage of both the view and the orientation of the sun. The layout of the house allows for the sun to enter from the southwest while still allowing full advantage of the northeast views. All of the principal first floor rooms open onto a continous porch that is reminiscent of the grand shingle houses that line Buzzard's Bay.
